Plumbing waste fixtures use traps to prevent unpleasant drain and sewer smells penetrating into buildings. Through traps, fixtures are connected to waste lines which take the waste to a soil stack or soil vent pipe.
At the bottom of a building’s drain system is the drain waste vent which rises (often within a wall) upwards and through the roof. The waste can then exit the building through the drain and flow into the public sewer or in some cases a cesspit.
